A small house, on purpose.

Tinderbox publishes books that treat the reader like they can handle the truth. Picture books that use the real words — died, divorce, different. Coloring books that pair the illustration with the actual research. Nonfiction that turns decades of study into something you can use on a Tuesday.

The house is organised as a set of imprints rather than one flat list, because a book about a grandparent dying and a book about Mercury retrograde should not arrive in the same voice. Each imprint gets its own colour and its own tone. The frame stays warm and stays out of the way.

The names on the covers

Tinderbox publishes under pen names, one to an imprint. It is a small house; the names are a way of keeping each imprint's voice its own, not a way of pretending to be a large one.
